You’ve sat through a Conceal Carry class from a state instructor and you’ve learned a lot.  In fact, it can be a bit daunting because of information overload.  Yet, when the sheriff issues you a conceal conceal permit, you are held responsible for comprehending and applying every bit of the information you received during that 8 hour class.

Drawing Your Gun This Way Will Land You In Jail

My classes run between 9-10 hours because I give each lady personal attention when we get to the “hands-on” section of the training.  I want to make sure no one leaves my class without fully understanding the gun safety issues and features of a gun.

I also tell my students at the beginning of class to relax and take a deep breath.  The more relaxed you are during the learning process, the more information you retain.

Then I tell my students to come to this blog regularly because I’ll cover different aspects of the training over and over and in different ways to drive home some very important legal aspects of owning and carrying a handgun.  Here are two scenarios that all conceal carriers should take to heart.

I enjoy reading your articles. Can you tell me the best hand gun for a older lady? I am 63 and rather short, 4 ft 6 in tall. So a large hand gun is out and I would rather not have one with a hard kick.
I charge a AR-15 that I love and did have a colt 45 persuasion hand gun that I let my brother have to use. So I am use to firearms. My father taught us gun safety and how to shoot. He was a sharpshooter in the war.
Thank You for all you do

Thank you, Kathy, for contacting us. There are so many to choose from and so many variables to consider but I think you’ve hit on a few that are well thought out. Though I’m not quite your youthful age yet, I am about the same in size and I’d also prefer a handgun I can control and shoot accurately without the recoil jumping the muzzle all over the place. A Sig Sauer P238 is easy to carry and conceal on your person. I use it most everyday myself. It’s made of all metal so the recoil is very little. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to shoot which says a lot for learning to manage what little recoil it does have. It comes in a lot of different colors & styles, too! Watch for sales! Let me know what you decide. I wish you all the best in 2016!
